Timing the Market ( 20min );
Implementing a Retirement Strategy I ( 15min );
Implementing a Retirement Strategy II ( 10min ).
The Retirement Strategy uses a starting account of $500,000 and is expected to generate an income of 10% or $50,000. The first $200,000 is put into bond funds generating 6%. The remaining $300,000 is put into 3 stock portfolios. The first stock portfolio consists of $100,000 invested in high dividend paying stocks on which covered calls are written to generate extra income. The other 2 stock portfolios will be described in subsequent Vector Vest videos which I will show if available by the time of the meeting. |

currency exchange market FOREX. It had good content on basic investing principles and made measuring
risk sound possible. 2. Bill Rowan is working on testing the hypothesis that "if you screen stocks for low price/earnings ratio will you get low priced stocks?" He says there are other variables that can be tested in like manner. |

The Z-Score. it has
been used since 1985 or so. With current software tools it is fairly
easy to create. Gary did it in a few minutes in Stock Investor Pro and
got results. He thinks this scoring would be very useful in making new

Steve Forbes audio of his presentation, and
listen to the first part. He jokes for awhile in his introduction
and then launches into his view of the minor effect that the sub prime
mortgage crisis will have on the economy. This is dated Nov, 2007,
and one of our AAII presenters said Steve Forbes is the smartest brain
on the planet in economics! Remember the numbers and then we
can see how it shakes out in August 2008.

Member Participation night : At the last meeting we decided that, going forward, the economy, and investing topics were of more current interest than the original mission statement of what is takes to use your computer to get investment information. That is important in the process of investing, but most members are pretty fluent in computer use. Perhaps we are shifting from internals - how to run the boat, to what is going on with the economic weather and the condition of the ocean - investment choices out there. So each member bring something he/she wants to share with the rest of us on a topic/information he/she wants to talk about. The group has smart members who listen, read, and doubt much of what is "financial news", so the benefit of coming to the meeting is to gain from the collective wisdom of real individual investors! |
